Where Better Together Began

Better Together Adventures did not begin as a business plan or a social media idea. It began with two people choosing to build a life and experience the journey together.

We are Troy and Cristina. Our story has taken us from Michigan to Pennsylvania, along quiet trails, through small towns and across hundreds of miles on two wheels. Along the way, we discovered something that now sits at the heart of everything we do:

The best adventures are not measured only by the distance traveled or the places visited. They are measured by the person beside you, the challenges you overcome and the memories you carry home together.

A New Chapter in Pennsylvania

Moving from Michigan to Pennsylvania was more than a change of address. It opened the door to a different kind of life, one filled with trails, rivers, mountains, waterfalls and places waiting to be explored.

We became especially drawn to the Great Allegheny Passage. The GAP was not simply a trail running through western Pennsylvania. It connected communities, carried generations of history and invited people to slow down and experience the landscape one mile at a time.

The more we explored, the more cycling became part of our life together. Riding gave us time to talk, laugh, encourage each other and experience places we might otherwise have passed by.

Eventually, one ride became much more than another cycling trip.

The Journey That Changed Everything

We planned a 334 mile journey from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C., following the Great Allegheny Passage and the C&O Canal Towpath.

It would be a demanding ride, but the distance was only part of the story. About 75 miles into the journey, we planned to stop in Ohiopyle and get married.

We began in Pittsburgh and started pedaling south along the GAP. Every mile carried us closer to Ohiopyle, where members of our family would meet us and where our lives would change forever.

When we arrived, we stayed at the Stone House Inn and prepared for a moment unlike any other. Beside the waterfall in Ohiopyle, surrounded by the beauty of a place that had already become meaningful to us, we said, "I do."

Most weddings end with the couple leaving for their honeymoon. Ours continued by bicycle.

Our First Miles as Husband and Wife

After the ceremony, the ride was not finished. Hundreds of miles still separated us from Washington.

We returned to the trail as newlyweds and continued the journey together.

Those remaining miles became the beginning of our marriage. There were long days, tired legs and moments when the destination still seemed far away. There were also quiet mornings, beautiful views, trail towns, unexpected discoveries and the simple happiness of riding beside the person you love.

The trail reminded us that every journey has climbs and descents. Some miles come easily, while others ask more from you than expected. Plans change. Wrong turns happen. Conditions are not always perfect.

But when someone is beside you, encouraging you, waiting for you and celebrating with you, the difficult miles become part of a story worth telling.

We were not racing each other or trying to prove who was stronger. We had one shared destination, and we intended to reach it the same way we began: together.

That became one of the most important lessons of the entire journey. The mileage was part of the accomplishment, but the relationship was the point.

More Than One Ride

When we reached Washington, the ride ended, but something else had begun.

The experience changed how we viewed adventure. We realized that cycling could be more than recreation. It could bring people closer together, introduce them to communities, support local businesses and create opportunities to encourage others.

Our 334 mile wedding journey became the inspiration for Better Together Adventures, but this brand is about much more than one trail or one ride.

It is about exploring scenic routes and discovering the towns between the trailheads. It is about mountain biking, hiking, camping, traveling and trying something new. It is about honest trail reviews, practical trip information and sharing the lessons we learn along the way.

Most importantly, it is about connection.

We want to encourage couples, families, friends and riding partners to spend meaningful time together. You do not need to be an elite athlete. You do not need the most expensive equipment or a perfectly planned itinerary. You simply need a willingness to begin and someone willing to share the experience.

Building a Life Around the Trail

Today, we are building the next chapter of our life near the GAP and Dead Man's Hollow.

The trails that once carried us toward our wedding are now becoming part of our everyday lives and the foundation for what comes next. Through Better Together Adventures, we will share our rides, trail reviews, travel experiences and the people and businesses that make trail communities special.

We are also developing group rides, the BT334 shared challenge and opportunities to give back through an annual bicycle giveaway.

BT334 grew directly from our wedding journey. It invites two people to complete the GAP and C&O together, not as a race, but as a shared commitment. The goal is not to arrive first. The goal is to encourage one another, experience the journey and finish together.

Our giving back mission reflects that same belief. A bicycle can provide freedom, confidence, health and a new way to experience the world. As Better Together Adventures grows, we want that growth to create opportunities for someone else to begin a journey of their own.

The Road Ahead

We do not know exactly where every future trail will lead, but that is part of the adventure.

We will keep riding scenic roads, exploring unfamiliar trails, chasing sunsets, hiking to waterfalls and discovering the communities between the miles. We will probably make a few wrong turns. We will face difficult climbs and enjoy the descents that follow.

Through all of it, we will continue moving forward side by side.

Our faith reminds us that "two are better than one." Our experience has taught us the same lesson mile after mile: life is richer when we encourage one another, experiences become more meaningful when they are shared, and even the longest journey feels possible when we do not travel alone.

Better Together Adventures began with our story, but we hope it becomes a place where others are inspired to create stories of their own.

Choose a trail. Invite someone important to you. Take the first step or pedal the first mile.

You never know where the journey might lead.
